Games when there are no games

With live sports rightfully taking a backseat during a global pandemic, we set out to build a suite of entertaining social games to fill the void. Through a mix of socially native brain games, quizzes, puzzles and more, we delivered a new type of content that challenged our audience while providing an entertaining break in their day.

Predict the season

To build excitement for the post-pandemic return of the NBA, we prompted our Instagram audience to make predictions across a range of awards, from the MVP to “Best Flopper. The IG Stories-based experience provided an engaging way to pick back up on the halted NBA season, while eliciting conversation around their favorite players and teams.

We commissioned animated logos for all NBA teams along with custom illustrations for 23 different players to give our fanbase a wide selection of options to predict their NBA award winners.

IG Stories Interactive Puzzle

Instagram users were prompted to find and assemble puzzle pieces in order to solve a trivia question. The final reveal is a custom graphic that pays homage to the NBA’s youngest-ever MVP, Derrick Rose.

Tap and Hold NBA Quiz

An interactive visual quiz uses a dense, quick-moving grid of players that contains clues to help users answer trivia questions. The experience played out over multiple slides within Instagram stories and used native polling tools to collect answers.

Which Team is Missing

Using NFL helmets as visual clues, we tasked fans with identifying the missing team from a player’s career. Each round grew progressively more difficult throughout the game.

Jersey Math

We tasked our audience with identifying several players’ jersey numbers from memory and using the values to solve simple math equations. The multiple-choice quizzes included several rounds of play with increasing difficulty and rewards for correct answers.
